Permite el control simult\u00e1neo de m\u00faltiples ejes mediante una lista de movimientos escrita en un c\u00f3digo espec\u00edfico (c\u00f3digo G). Por esta raz\u00f3n, el NC (Control Num\u00e9rico) fue desarrollado en la d\u00e9cada de 1940 por el Instituto Tecnol\u00f3gico de Massachusetts (MIT), inicialmente utilizando cintas perforadas. Con la llegada de la computadora, evolucion\u00f3 al CNC. Esto logr\u00f3 el objetivo de fabricar piezas complejas, en serie y de alta precisi\u00f3n, especialmente al utilizarse en conjunto con los programas CAD\/CAM actuales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La introducci\u00f3n del CNC en la industria ha transformado radicalmente los procesos industriales. Los perfiles de alta complejidad se mecanizan f\u00e1cilmente. Las estructuras 3D se vuelven relativamente f\u00e1ciles de producir y el n\u00famero de pasos del proceso que requieren la intervenci\u00f3n del operador se reduce dr\u00e1sticamente. El CNC tambi\u00e9n ha reducido el n\u00famero de errores humanos (lo que aumenta la calidad del producto al reducir las repeticiones y los desperdicios), optimizando las l\u00edneas de montaje y haci\u00e9ndolas m\u00e1s flexibles, ya que la misma l\u00ednea de montaje ahora puede adaptarse para producir otro producto en un tiempo mucho menor en comparaci\u00f3n con los procesos de producci\u00f3n tradicionales.
